Beyond the Land of Hattamala – Malayalam Theatre Performance | Kozhikode & Kochi

Space of ACT Theatre Collective presents “Beyond the Land of Hattamala,” a Malayalam adaptation inspired by legendary playwright Badal Sircar’s surreal and politically layered theatrical storytelling. Blending physical theatre, minimalist staging, ensemble performance, and experimental narrative techniques, the production explores themes of greed, survival, belonging, and human transformation.

The play follows two thieves entering an unusual village where generosity disrupts the very logic of crime, unfolding into a thought-provoking theatrical experience driven entirely by performance, movement, voice, and imagination. Performed by five actors without elaborate props, costume transitions, or blackouts, the production embraces raw live theatre and immersive storytelling.

Directed by Ajithlal Sivalal, the performance brings together emerging theatre artists and collaborators working in contemporary Malayalam theatre and experimental stage performance.
